The Punto Pulso App

About this Project

Our project addresses the difficulty people face when trying to find fast and reliable help during emergencies. In critical situations such as medical accidents, fires, natural disasters, or security threats, people often waste valuable time searching for nearby assistance, emergency contacts, or instructions on what to do. We discovered this problem by observing how stressful and confusing emergency situations can be for many people. Often, individuals do not know where the nearest hospital, shelter, or police station is located, especially in unfamiliar areas.

Professional Feedback

Great project! What really stands out to me here is the how the students iterated from a simple idea into a bigger one while maintaining discipline and avoiding adding features that would distract users--a solid example of user-centric design. I would challenge the students to expand on the future-facing direction they describe and consider how they could make their app better after having it work in the real world for some time? Software is magical in that it's so easy to change, but often the hard part is figuring out what are the right changes to make. Overall, solid work, thank you for sharing your project!
I like the name of this app (and would be interested in learning why you chose it.) Terrific pivot to realize that your app could address several different types of emergencies. I think that this is its real strength, to have all these options in one place. This is especially important because some self-defined emergencies might be solved at, for example, the local pharmacy without burdening an emergency room. Mapping is key as well when dealing with urgent situations.

I hope you can find the time and energy to finish the app!

Great job.
