About this Project
Student I is a real-time navigation assistant designed to help visually impaired students navigate chaotic indoor school environments safely and independently. Unlike standard GPS tools, the app utilizes Computer Vision AI and the device’s camera to identify school-specific obstacles—such as lockers, open doors, or stray backpacks—providing immediate auditory guidance like "keep left" through the user's headphones. The interface is built for accessibility and voice-activated commands, allowing students to navigate to the cafeteria or class without needing to type or rely on a sighted guide. To ensure student safety and data security, Student I processes all video locally on the device to protect the privacy of others in the hallway, acting as a digital "eye" that empowers students to move through their day with confidence.

Professional Feedback
I really enjoyed this solution and how inclusive it is for visually impaired students. I’d love to see you guys continue expanding the navigation guidance and further develop the AI’s obstacle detection to make it even more effective. This is a thoughtful project with the potential to make a real impact.
