About this Project
Our game addresses the issue of deforestation by encouraging players to plant trees after cutting them down. We were inspired by real environmental concerns and games like Minecraft that involve resource use and responsibility. This issue affects the planet's health and future generations. We learned in class that forests are disappearing rapidly, and we wanted our game to raise awareness in a fun, interactive way.

What the Judges are Saying
Designing a game in Unity was ambitious and also a really fun way to explore the concept of sustainability! Even just creating a menu in Unity is challenging and time consuming so I'm impressed with how far they got during the project. I enjoyed their Minecraft reference as inspiration for the game. I loved that they considered sounds as part of their game as well. This is a great start and I'm excited to see how the game expands!
Wow, I am truly mind-blown by the thought and effort that went into this presentation. Jose, great job on your thought process! I really appreciated that you created an interactive version or game design that we could actually engage with. It made the experience very immersive and brought the concept of this “wonderland” to life in a compelling way.
The visuals were striking, and I was particularly impressed that you used Unity to build the demo. Since I’ve never used Unity myself, it’s even more impressive to see how you leveraged it to create a meaningful experience focused on sustainability. The idea of planting and cutting trees, while also encouraging players to plant more, sends a powerful and timely message, especially in the context of climate change and deforestation. It’s essential that whenever one tree is cut down, more are planted, and I love how your game reinforces that lesson.
I also want to highlight the strong design process you followed. It’s clear that a lot of thought went into each step, and I truly appreciate that.
For improvement, I did notice a few areas to refine. The in-game instructions had some mislabeling, for example, “A” should be labeled as move left and “D” as move right, but those were not labelled correctly in the game. Additionally, there were no clear instructions on how to cut or plant trees. When the bear appeared, I wasn’t sure what the player was supposed to do after getting caught. Adding clearer directions would make the gameplay more intuitive.
The sound effects were very engaging and added a lot to the overall experience, I really enjoyed them! For the presentation itself, just make sure to review and correct any labeling or spelling issues to ensure clarity and professionalism.
Overall, this is an amazing project. You deserve a lot of praise for both the execution and the important message behind it. Great job!
