Waterbottle prototype

About this Project

Students keep knocking their water bottles onto the floor while in class. This disrupts the learning environment and causes some of the students to miss part of the instructions. With our design, students will have a safe and designated place to keep their materials and water bottles near their person without distracting the class.

What the Judges are Saying

Nice idea. We all hate the sound metal water bottles make when they hit the ground and the mess they can make. I never thought about the lack of a place other than the floor for students to place water bottles which could create a tripping hazard. Would this product be something schools would purchase to put on desks or individual students? If for an elementary school where students don't really change classes I could see parents purchasing it for the year to leave on the students desk. Has the potential to be used outside the classroom as well such as people pushing strollers. Great job!
A.L, A.A. and J.Q - well done on a great presentation! The problem that you set out to solve is very annoying to many people, which is always a great place to start when you want to come up with a product or solution.
The research that you did is excellent - it is always good to use different methods to guide you: I am impressed that you did user interviews with both students and teachers (every target audience has different needs and motivations) and that you also did “market research” (looking at similar products that already exist and asking yourselves how you can make something better).
You have also done a great job showing how you prototyped, tested, and refined your designs. I love seeing how you improved the product over time!
Your plans for deployment - piloting in one class and then reevaluating to see if you can make more improvements - are also very clever. Great work!
