About this Project

This project addresses the issue of mental health for everyone from youngest to oldest. This app works by us sharing a code to our users. It will work by downloading mindshift and there will be professional therapist talking to our user to make them share their emotions and feelings so they can feel better and safe.

What the Judges are Saying

Thank you for creating and sharing your app idea and design for Mindset! Mental health is a very serious topic that needs to be discussed, even though it can be really hard to. Growing up, the topic of mental health was something that you would never talk about, it was seen as "taboo" and better to just keep your thoughts to yourself if something was wrong. It is so refreshing to see that even though you may be young, you realize how important it is to get help when you need it and are working to provide solutions for this. Talking about these things more will help everybody!

I really love that you have a clear understanding of the issue at hand and want to actively make a solution. You showcase how you want to make this app and website accessible by making it available on both phones and browser, which helps ensure you are hitting a larger audience. Another positive is how you went into details about the style guide for this app. As somebody who went to college for Marketing, how you present yourself is super important. Specifically, the color scheme you chose for the app, blues and purples, represent feelings of calm, peace, and serenity. These are all aligned with the values you want to get across to your customers.

One thing that I would love to hear more about is what makes Mindshift different from other apps who are doing similar things. I know in your survey, you mentioned that one person used Headspace to help when they are feeling down or struggling with mental health. How are you different from apps like Headspace, Better Help, etc? Showcasing what makes you unique will help take this project to the next level. Also, make sure prior to submitting the project we do a quick check for our spelling and grammar so everything looks correct.

I think that you are on the right track with this and I look forward to one day seeing this as a fully developed app and website!
Dear Student Team,
Thank you for creating and sharing your app idea and design for Mindshift! Your project demonstrates incredible awareness and compassion in addressing one of society's most pressing challenges - mental health support. It's particularly impressive to see young innovators like yourselves tackling a topic that has historically been stigmatized and overlooked. Your approach to making mental health support more accessible and user-friendly shows both emotional intelligence and practical thinking.

Strengths:
- Thoughtful user interface design with calming color choices (blues and purples)
- Cross-platform accessibility (mobile app and browser-based)
- Flexible support options (free trials and professional services)
- Clear focus on creating a safe, welcoming environment for users
- Well-considered user journey from sign-up through therapy sessions
- Strong emphasis on privacy through secure code sharing for sessions
- Inclusion of both messaging and video call capabilities

Future Considerations & Opportunities:

1. Differentiation & Innovation
- Research existing apps like BetterHelp, Talkspace, and Headspace
- Identify and highlight unique features that set your platform apart
- Consider specialized services for specific age groups or mental health concerns

2. Safety & Crisis Support
- Implement 24/7 crisis intervention features
- Include direct links to emergency services and crisis hotlines
- Consider AI-powered risk assessment to flag concerning user messages

3. Technical & Accessibility
- Implement WCAG guidelines to ensure accessibility for users with disabilities
- Ensure the platform works across different devices and internet speeds
- Consider adding offline functionality for users with limited connectivity
- Expand language options to serve diverse communities

4. Pilot Program Suggestions
- Start with a small test group at your school
- Partner with school counselors for initial feedback and guidance
- Document user experiences to continually improve features
- Explore peer support options under professional supervision

5. Growth Potential
- Investigate partnerships with local mental health organizations
- Consider adding group therapy sessions as an additional service
- Develop comprehensive resource libraries for self-help
- Include progress tracking and wellness metrics for users

6. Polishing Your Presentation
- Double-check spelling and grammar in all project materials
- Clearly articulate what makes Mindshift unique compared to existing apps
- Consider expanding on your user research and how it informed your design decisions

Your project has great potential to make mental health support more accessible and to positively impact many lives. Keep developing these ideas and remember that even helping one person makes a significant difference. I'm excited to see how Mindshift evolves and look forward to potentially seeing it as a fully developed app and website in the future!
