What the Judges are Saying
This is such a relevant and important topic, mental health is often overlooked, and I really appreciate that you’ve chosen to focus on supporting people who are experiencing depression. Your approach to addressing mental health and providing solutions is thoughtful and much needed.
The presentation was well-crafted, and I especially loved the prototype you created. It was insightful to see how you included questionnaires to help evaluate whether someone might be experiencing depression, along with clear guidance on what steps they can take. I also found it impressive that you’ve integrated AI-based tools to support mental well-being, this is a great example of using technology for good.
I’m genuinely looking forward to seeing how this project develops further. Thank you for sharing such a meaningful and well-executed concept. Bravo!

First off, this is a meaningful and compassionate project. Designing an app to support people struggling with depression and low self-esteem shows empathy, purpose, and a desire to make a real difference. It's clear that your goal is to create a space where users feel heard, supported, and understood—which is the foundation of good user experience design.
What You Did Well:
• User-Centered Purpose:
Your app is focused on real emotional needs. That’s an excellent starting point for UX design—thinking about what users are feeling, what they need, and how the app can support them without judgment.
• Inclusive Audience:
Designing for children, teens, and adults shows that you're thinking broadly and inclusively. That’s important when creating mental health tools, since everyone experiences emotions differently.
• Empathetic Language:
Phrases like “it’s not bad to feel this way” and “you are not alone” are emotionally supportive and help build trust with the user. That tone is essential for this kind of app.
Areas for Improvement:
• Clarity & Flow:
Be clear about what the user can expect from the app. For example, how do the questions work? Do users receive tips or resources based on their answers? Clear and simple explanations help users feel safe and in control.
• Visual & Emotional Design:
Think about how the app feels visually. Use calm, welcoming colors, readable fonts, and soothing imagery to reduce anxiety and help users feel at ease. Design can have a big emotional impact.
• Privacy & Safety:
Since the app handles sensitive information, consider how you communicate safety and privacy. Even if it’s just a prototype, it’s good UX to explain how users' data is handled or to reassure them their input is safe.
• Personalization & Encouragement:
You might consider adding small features like personalized encouragement messages, daily mood check-ins, or journaling prompts to give users small, positive moments over time.
This is a kind and thoughtful concept with the potential to really help people feel less alone. For your next steps, try mapping out a basic user journey: what happens first, how the user interacts with the app, and what kind of support they receive after completing the questions. This will help you design an experience that’s both meaningful and easy to use.
Overall, this is a heartfelt project with a strong UX foundation. Keep focusing on empathy and simplicity, and you’ll continue building something truly impactful. Great job!
