About this Project

Our project is a animal app that you can vent to and talk to when you feeling sad or down. It is a app that you chose your favorite animal that can pet, listen to, and play with to improve your mental health.

What the Judges are Saying

You’ve done a great job diving into discovery phase research, which is an essential step in app design. Mental health is an important topic and your presentation clearly conveys the problem. I especially appreciated your excellent use of user interview quotes to build your narrative – it really helped illustrate the user's perspective. It also helped illustrate how we each cope differently. Looking forward, your team may want to identify a target user and build a user persona to help guide design decisions.

You have brainstormed many great ideas and identified several indirect competitors, which really shows your thinking outside of the box! You could also research direct competitors to your app, like mindfulness or meditation apps (with the permission of an adult, of course!).
Thank you for an innovative solution to an issue that everyone experiences at various times. We all have moments when we go through difficult emotions and sometimes feel like we have no one to talk to (or we do not even want to talk to anyone!). Your app can provide people with an opportunity to get some of their concerns off their chest quickly and safely.

Do you think there is any concern with users choosing not to speak with a person any longer about their mental health and instead choosing to always talk to the animal in the app? If so, what changes would you make to the design of the app to encourage people to speak to qualified people when necessary? Overall, this is a great project. Well done!
