About this Project

The purpose of the app is to make food more accessible to the community. It provides people the space to bring food they do not need to a place where others will use that food, so they are able to minimize waste. This also gives people who are struggling with affording groceries and food the space to get the things they need, while also not feeling judged.

What the Judges are Saying

Strengths:
- Clear Mission Statement: The purpose of the project is well defined—making food more accessible while reducing waste.
- Community-Oriented Approach: The idea of fostering connections through community fridges and a platform encourages meaningful engagement.
- Real-World Impact: The concept aligns with existing food pantry efforts but adds a technological and social component for easier access.

Areas for Improvement:
- Polish the Messaging for Clarity: Some sections, especially the "Typical App User" and "How to Use the App" slides, could benefit from more concise language. Simplifying the wording will improve readability.
- Expand on User Journey: The app functionality is interesting, but it would help to provide a clearer visual representation of the user experience. Consider adding flow diagrams or more UI mockups to clarify navigation.
- Design Appeal: You mention selecting colors that “draw people in,” but there’s little elaboration on how the app’s visual identity reinforces trust and usability. A breakdown of your design choices would strengthen the argument.
- Future Steps: The “Looking Forward” slide mentions user interviews and a prototype. Consider briefly outlining how these steps will be conducted or what insights you aim to gather.

Suggestions:
- Data & Impact Metrics: Adding some research-backed statistics about food insecurity or community fridge effectiveness could bolster credibility.
- Potential Challenges: Address possible roadblocks, such as food safety concerns or maintaining fridge inventory. How will these be tackled?

Overall, the pitch deck presents a fantastic initiative! Strengthening the storytelling and sharpening certain details will make it even more compelling.
