About this Project:

We made an app that allows volunteers of a nonprofit to better coordinate and track their deliveries. Our app contains a map feature that allows volunteers to see and track where deliveries are. It also has a calendar feature that allows volunteers to see when deliveries need to be delivered.

I love this - This is such an important piece of software to deliver a service for all the nonprofit stakeholders. Connecting clients, the volunteers and the users will help streamline the process for all involved. The design-thinking behind the app is commendable - I would also want to see what kind of deliveries are these. For example: are these perishables or are these canned items? Also knowing who is the grocery box being delivered to might help in assigning the right people, plan the route well, and above all increase efficiency. Keep working on this and Id love to see this being officially supported by the similar agencies.

Such an informative app for the Mutual Aid volunteers! Very thoughtful app to help volunteers keep track of their work in one place. I especially love how simple this app is when you're simply looking to check information for one single delivery.

It's so interesting that you decided to make the delivery location an optional thing at the beginning of adding a delivery into the app. I wonder if some people would dislike that part since it feels like an extra step that they have to do to completely enter the fully details for one delivery. And I personally would prefer to have this app be secured with at least a login since deliveries will contain the recipient's name and address.

I wonder if it'll be nice to have the recipients directly enter the deliveries details or will it cause more confusion for the volunteers to see unfamiliar edits to the deliveries that they've planned.

Wow! What a great idea that really responds to our moment. Mutual aid has been such an essential part of addressing people's needs during covid, and I love the way this project supports that work. You have taken a few of the key elements of food delivery and scheduling apps and combined them to create a simple yet powerful tool. I wish I had Swift Haul on my phone! I especially loved seeing your brainstorming process on the Jamboard. I wonder if there's a way that you could add a login, or something that protects the privacy of the delivery recipients. I know this is an important aspect of mutual aid, protecting community members. This group has done such a great job of articulating their project questions and goals and communicating their process through multiple means!

Hi Elnor, Tim and Kyler! Love that you added the calendar feature! I'm wondering could this also be used for mutual aid orgs to schedule on behalf of others or provide the calendar for others to schedule deliveries? The calendar portion was very innovative because I don't think many people have considered this. Good job!

I knew this was going to be great as soon as you introduced yourselves as the Smart Monkeys. Your design is effective because you target a specific set of users (nonprofit volunteers) and walk through a clear user flow. Your app has huge social impact potential, particularly for immunocompromised people who can’t visit food banks in person this year. I also like that you designed separate app experiences for both volunteers and those receiving food. Keep it up!
