About this Project:

The purpose of our app is to make it easier for people to find, contact and connect with different mutual aid groups. Users will essentially be able to find all of the different mutual aid groups on one platform. We came up with this idea by interviewing someone from Crown Heights Mutual Aid and learned that due to the pandemic many mutual aid groups have sprung up around the city. We realized that there was a need for an app to help people navigate the different aid groups and communicate to share resources.

Our app will have a way to chat with mutual aid/volunteers, show the nearest Mutual Aid Group (including directions) and will allow people to find a place to donate stuff or volunteer at different groups who need specific help. For example, if someone has extra eggs and they see that a mutual aid group needs eggs, they can check the app to find out how to donate eggs to that mutual aid group.

I love that your project will help bring our community together and more easily provide aid to those in need! Perhaps you can add more customer interviews as part of your future plans to make sure that the features you design are aligned with the needs of the mutual aid community. Your wireframes are tastefully created and makes it easy to envision what your final product will look like. It is clear from your jamboard that your team excels at brainstorming. I look forward to seeing how you all will continue to brainstorm ways to elevate your app!

I really like this app and all the possibilities from it. Very impressive you're using tools like Figma to mock things up, my team uses that, too. One thing that could help is take more time to emphasize the problem you are solving. It's clear your design is strong and it looks like a live app, very impressive!

I really like it! Nice work on the style guide and color palette. Great idea to prevent food waste and help homeless people. I hope this app gets out there. Great job, team!

Such a great premise! Having an app showing a network of mutual aid groups could increase involvement from New Yorkers who are unaware of the needs of their local mutual aid group, since this would give them an ability to see what's needed in a simple app. Have you thought more about how you would categorize the needs of each mutual aid group? It would also be great to see a bit of the user flow from one part of the app to another. Your passion for this project is clear! The inspiration behind the logo is perfect and it's great to have a "favorites" section in the app. Bravo!
