“Let's Stop Cyberbullying”

Group Davianny Design an App with Slides

About this Project:

This project is a mobile app designed to help teens that are being bullied online and educate people that do not know about cyberbullying. The students came up with their idea by first brainstorming their values and then deciding on a project theme based on what was important to them. Once they chose the topic of cyberbullying Davianny inspired the group based on her love of Tik Tok.

It first started as a video sharing platform similar to Tik Tok themed around raising awareness for cyberbullying. It aims to have teens sharing their stories, teachers / parents / or counselors to providing insightful mental health tips or support. After planning, they realized that they wanted to make the app bigger than just Tik Tok.

They decided they would add an option for an Instagram like interface with the same focus of cyberbullying and promoting positive self-identity. They also have the option to send messages or directly face time a teen volunteer that has gone through cyberbullying, a volunteer counselor, a volunteer parent with a child who has been bullied. There are volunteer monitors to make sure that there is no bullying going on in "Let's Stop Cyberbullying" community.

Thank you Davianny and Gabriel for coming up with this idea. You are tackling an important issue that has a major impact on this generation of youth's mental wellness. I commend the team for going through the process and deciding to pivot the idea to get to the core of the problem you are trying to solve. I can see so much potential in this app idea! It almost seems like the Instagram-like interface to bring awareness to cyberbullying and positive self-identify is its own thing, and the features to make it easier to connect with a volunteer counselor, a volunteer parent with a child who has been bullied could becoming its own product idea. Excellent use of multimedia and technology with live video and private chats to make it easier for the bullied kids to have a safe space to find someone to listen and talk to. Well done!

This app makes important resources accessible to your younger target audience via TikTok and messaging. Your branding is also quite effective (thoughtful logo design, positive messaging) and I agree with your theory that a visual experience will draw users in. Great job tackling such a worthy issue!

I really like the idea of an app to stop cyber bullying, so kids don't feel alone and have the resources (chat or facetime). I like the inclusion of the slogan 'We've got your back.' Would love to see other positive messages in the app, and other factoids about bulllies to better understand why they do this.
I think this would be a wonderful app or could even be a plug in to other apps to prevent cyber bullying. Nice job, team. Keep up the good work!

I really appreciate you guys taking the time to highlight an important problem in society today. Now that we are in quarantine, it makes it easier for people to be cyber bullied. I feel like more people should be inspired to stop cyber bullying because it plays a big role in our mental health and I applaud the two of you for coming up with this app design.
