“Kia & Poco”
Creators: Maisa
a High School Student from Thomas A. Edison CTE High School
About this Project:
This game is to show how the lives of humans and animals are connected and one has some sort of impact over the other. When people hurt the environment and destroy the habitat of animals, the animals end up moving near the human population and start spreading diseases.

Feedback from the Judges:
This is such a fun and innovative way to make people see the connections between humans and animals. I loved seeing your process and your coding expertise. Video games are one of the best storytelling tools available to us and I love that you chose this medium. I would suggest looking into further developing Kia & Poco's storyline to connect the audience so they feel compelled to take action. Great job, Maisa!
Habitat destruction is an important global issue, and it's great that you've chosen to use your creativity to help combat it! Some research on the problem could help you make the game an even stronger learning experience for the players. Perhaps, for example, Poco or Kia could share some facts about habitat loss during the game. It looks like you had fun coding this game. I had fun playing it!
This game really builds empathy and shows the way we affect each other in the world - the illustrations and storytelling are great!

This shows how important our decisions are and it has really good storytelling as games can be really good at that and you did really well.
