An App/Software Project
a High School Student from DreamYard
About this Project:
Name of App: File Bud
Interviewed: Civil Engineer
Main Function: Filing
App Category: Business
Function: To help with filing and checking your files all at the same time based on a different client.
The name of my app is called File Bud. The colors for my app are blue, white, steel, and navy blue. This app helps with file checking and filing documents coming from various clients since the civil engineer expressed issues with files being organized between complete and incomplete while working with clients. One additional thing I wanted to add is a checkbox notification to tell the user if they are missing certain files.
About the program at DreamYard
As a collective, we took the time to define essential work in our communities and then choose accessible people in occupations related to our definitions. This project challenges small problems in individuals ' jobs that could help them work more effectively and efficiently. They need varied depending on the essential worker but everyone had small issues that complied and impeded their work.
Students went through a process of familiarizing themselves with the Human-Centered Design approach and their personal design process in the fall where they made a face mask from scratch with minor improvements that they individually brainstormed. In the spring, they took their understanding of their process, chose essential workers, and developed a list of questions to best understand their work and the small and large issues that arise in their day-to-day. After conducting interviews students synthesized their notes and chose a simple problem they could solve with an app. At the same time, they learned about the basics of apps, product design, wireframing, and graphic design to build the idea for their project.

The idea of organizing files for a client is a great idea, and viewing through a mobile app is a smart concept, you can check in from anywhere. It's difficult to create a project this general to work for any sort of file management issue. Perhaps revising to make to deliverable more specific to the client would help clarify the app.

This is such a great idea and is a great foundation to start with. I would love to see how you would consider customization options since this is an individual needs app. Checkbox notifications is a thoughtful design idea that considers the needs of the client! This has some great potential, nice work!

I think a file management system that is accessible through an app could help a lot of people and organizations. You have a good base to start with and I would be interested in seeing how this project develops. One thing to consider as you move forward is conducting user interviews to create a good general design that can be applicable to many different organizations.
