About this Project
Simple Justice is an app that simplifies legal texts such as the Constitution and amendments. It addresses challenges such as confusion about rights and ignorance about asserting rights in necessary situations. The app works by asking the AI to explain a certain right or amendment and simplifies it by using real-life situations, informing you when it's necessary.

What the Judges are Saying
I think that this begins to address a problem within our society which is that many individuals do not understand the law or legal terminology when they need to. I think one of the best parts of the app is that it can connect you to legal experts if one needs to. Other than that function, I am not seeing how this is different than searching on Google or other search engines. I think developing the pitch more and really diving into what sets this apart could really help drive home the reason for the project.
SimpleJustice would be a useful and visually appealing resource for people. There are multiple ways to connect with potential users through digital resources (app, website, newsletter) and in real life. This is a thoughtful approach to meeting users' needs through multiple routes.
The app is a fantastic tool for anyone looking to simplify and understand laws more easily. It breaks down complex legal jargon into clear, straightforward language, making it accessible for users without a legal background. The app interface is user-friendly, ensuring a smooth experience even for those who aren’t tech-savvy. Many people including myself have a hard time interpreting laws, I can see myself using the app. The only drawback the app, it is missing language translation into different languages for users who may not understand English. Adding this feature would make the app even more inclusive and beneficial to a wider audience. Overall, this app is an invaluable resource for anyone needing to navigate the legal landscape with ease.
Making legal language accessible, especially through relatable, real-life examples, is a valuable step toward civic empowerment. Your use of NLP to simplify complex legal texts shows thoughtful use of AI for good.
The project has a clear purpose. The idea to evolve from a basic document search to AI-driven explanation is a smart pivot. AI could also help with translating, for the immigration law example that you mentioned.
The concept would benefit from more evidence or user insights to support the need—some basic design research like interviews or surveys could really sharpen your direction and define your user group.
To strengthen the project even more, consider expanding how you ensure legal accuracy while simplifying content. How do we know that the responses are accurate and up to date? Law is ultimately about people, and ensuring users have access to human support and judgment will make your concept more ethical and trustworthy. Can you think of any ways to include human law experts as part of your design, and why that might be important?
Overall, this app has strong potential as a tool for justice, education, and empowerment. Great work!
