What the Judges are Saying
I really liked how focused the team was on their end users. They discussed thoroughly the wants and expectations of these users. It seems like a lot of research was done to show what people are looking for from public transportation and the current challenges they face using it. Thank you for looking into a cause that’s important to everyone who lives in NYC and around! Something I’d like to see is more about how the app itself would look and some of those design features that would make this app unique by including all the different aspects they discussed. Overall a great idea to meet the needs of the user group identified!
This project tackles a really important issue that affects so many people: making public transportation better for everyone. It's fantastic that you started by talking to people who actually use public transportation and conducting interviews and surveys shows a strong commitment to understanding the real needs of your community. You did a great job explaining these pain points in your presentation!
The idea for Track & Go clearly comes from a desire to make life easier for students, workers, and families, which is a wonderful goal. You've thought about several features that users might find helpful. One idea that really stands out as innovative and impactful is the feature for reporting unsafe situations which addresses a serious concern and could offer significant value.
I love that your team is showing a strong desire to improve your community through a thorough understanding of the problems they are facing. Keep up the great work!

I'm so impressed by the team's commitment to, and application of, user-centered design. They clearly did user research and focused their design around the priorities based on their findings. I applaud their application of agile methodology as well in starting with a minimum viable product addressing top priorities yet planning to evolve the solution over time.
One suggestion would be to strengthen the problem statements and goals of the solution both by using more specific and quantifiable language than "bad" and "better". How is it bad exactly? How would we measure "better". Getting clarity there will strengthen the impact and benefit of the solution.
This is exactly the kind of work I do with government customers on a daily basis and I'm so impressed at how similar this is to what professionals in the industry are doing today. We need more bright minds like these to help government continue to improve the lives of all constituents! Congratulations on an excellent project.
