What the Judges are Saying
The app’s navigation is well-structured, and the map’s iconography is impressive. I’m curious about the map’s interactivity, as it seems like a key innovative feature—how can engagement with it (or other aspects of the app) help further reinforce your main theme? The color palette is lively and fun but could be refined for better consistency and accessibility, especially for vision-impaired users.
Really well laid out and explained. Great idea and very empathetic. Nice work on designing an It is a serious topic and presents it in a way that's engaging and easy to understand. You've clearly thought about your users and how to make the experience feel familiar by modeling the layout after popular apps like Instagram and TikTok. That’s a smart move, especially for keeping younger users interested and comfortable navigating the app.
Using a modern interface for a news-related topic helps solve a real problem: traditional news apps can feel dull or overwhelming. By borrowing familiar design patterns and adding features like a global map and community tools, you've gone beyond just sharing information—you're helping users take action and connect with others who care about the issue.
The layout sounds intuitive, with a bottom navigation bar for quick access to key features like home, messages, maps, and news. The top search bar is a great addition too—it helps users find content quickly, which improves usability.
One suggestion: while inspiration from social media platforms is useful, be careful not to overwhelm users with too many features at once. Think about which parts are most important and keep the interface clean and focused. Also, consider accessibility—like font size, color contrast, and options for users with disabilities—to make sure the app truly is easy to use for everyone.
Overall, this is a thoughtful and creative concept with a strong foundation in user experience design. Keep exploring how real users interact with your app, and you’ll keep improving it from a good idea into something really impactful. Great job!

Great goal to try and bring more awareness to forest fires/deforestation. Smart to try and integrate community feedback. Would be useful if users could push content to platforms others are already on (eg TikTok and instagram). Also might want to consider including call to action.
