About this Project

Our application is designed to help immigrants adjust to their new homes and feel more welcomed. When moving to a new country many immigrants feel like they don’t belong as there are different customs and cultures. They struggle to learn a new language and adjust to their new surroundings.

What the Judges are Saying

This project has a clear objective, motivation and solution. It is like a one-stop shop to every immigrant. It would have been nice for the team to reach out a bit outside their families to understand the challenges of immigration. Over all, I think it was well thought-out.
This is a very thoughtful idea, this project shows empathy for the need of those who struggle and may need a little more support.
To broaden your research I would encourage you to include interviews of your neighbors and local shop owners, they are a wonderful source of insights and feedback - something to consider for your next project

Regarding your written material: something I learned early in my career is to always use a spell check on all my slides and emails.
Do an automatic spell check as your work through your narrative and do a final spell check again at the very end, before sending or sharing your work online.

About the Empower Path app, sharing a date of birth is not something everyone will be comfortable with, what you could consider is a sliding scale - my age is between 15 and 20 years old / 20-25 / 25-30 etc
Under the Laws category I like the option you offer to take a quiz, it is a nice way to digest legal info, nicer than having to read it from a book or legal website - you could consider adding references or links to free apps in that section, for example, other apps that offer a quiz to prepare for the Citizenship exam.
I would encourage you to consult an immigration Law firm, see if they offer a couple of hours for pro-bono work, so you can fully interview them and explore the resources available that you could leverage for your app. When it comes to any legal information, it is essential to have accurate and up to date information sources, and to keep it up to date - so professionals would be your best source of information.

The Key takeaways were clear and again thoughtful, thank you for spending time on this meaningful topic.
