What the Judges are Saying
This project focuses on a great concept because working at a utility, it is important to constantly promote safety knowledge. I love that your team recognized that knowledge is power during emergencies and being prepared is a majority of the battle. Consider: 1. how to prepare people in advance of emergencies with your app - often people are too frantic to read when its already happening. 2. offer safety options. 3. Consider how this app might be different from others that already exist.
I applaud the team's choice of problem to address and desire to create meaningful intercessions by attracting financial donations. This is indeed not only a significant current issue, but one that is likely to increase in coming years as climate change progresses. Having effective tools to promote safety and spare lives will be crucial. I would like to have seen some user research on what behaviors keep people safest and what specifically the app will do to encourage those. Perhaps there are capabilities the app could have in distributing alerts or communications from emergency officials. Is there a way to use GPS on the app to enable people to track their loved ones or checklists and guidance specific to approaching storms? I love to see this initial version and can imagine many ways it would evolve to improve safety.
