About this Project:

My project addresses the issue of ocean pollution. The design process of my game was at first I made a wireframe to plan out the basics of what the app will look like. Then I did a digital wireframe and mock-up so I could see how it was going to look when the app was created. It also allowed me to know how to code the buttons for our game along with other things I needed to create. I came up with my idea because a major part of ocean pollution is how much plastic is in the ocean and how it affects the ecosystems. The idea is that there is a fisherman who has been tasked with cleaning up the water in his town. He has recruited the player to help him with cleaning the ocean. My project works by users clicking play which will then take them to level one. In order to clean the ocean they have to click on the plastic fish within the time.

More About this Project

For my project, it was important for me to do an app on this topic because ocean pollution is a very big problem that needs to be addressed. The process of creating this app was very fun. I learned more about coding with JavaScript along with how to code specific things. In my figma file, it shows what I wanted the app to look like and my ideas for the app. I kept a lot of the things that I wanted to do for my project that I did in the mock-up which I think gave me a good foundation of how to start.

Love the topic of choice here. Ocean pollution is a serious problem affecting our biosphere. Perhaps consider a way to allow for user donations to worthy organizations working on the same problem. Also, instead of picking the fish, maybe consider having the user pick the trash (and have it disappear once clicked)!

This is an important topic to be addressing and I like that you are focused on younger kids. You are correct that it is important to teach them at a young age so they develop the right habits as they grow up that will protect our oceans. I really appreciated your slide that showed your design process from your storyboard to selecting your colors, typography and icons. You were very thoughtful in your approach! Along with your idea of adding more of a story line for the fisherman, you could also think about how the dialogue you would create could also help teach young kids about how bad polluting the ocean is. And, I wonder if creating a fun tutorial that would help kids understand how to play the game would help. Really great start and I like that the design really does reflect how you have thought about how to engage 4-6 year olds!

I love how you guys made it into a game and it motavaites people to no litter or throw plastic into the ocean/sea/ or lake. The color theme is super cute.
