About this Project:

FAR (Fighting Against Racism) is an app that helps kids learn about different cultures and backgrounds. We noticed that many school libraries right here in the Bronx and other parts of New York City don't have enough books about different people’s heritage and culture. So, FAR helps get those kinds of books into these schools, especially where they're needed most.

At first, we thought about making an app where you could read lots of books about cultures and heritage online. But then, after talking to some teachers and students, we realized it would be even better to have real books in schools. So, we changed our plan to make that happen, focusing on helping schools in our own community.

FAR collects money through donations in the app. This money is used to buy books about different cultures and heritages. We then give these books to schools in the Bronx and New York City that don’t have many of them. When someone donates, they can see what books are bought and which schools get them. This way, everyone can see how they are helping. By doing this, we help kids learn more about themselves and each other, which is really important.

I love how this app tackles racism by focusing on cultural education! Learning about cultures through books is a fun and engaging method to build understanding and empathy. Your app design is inviting, colorful, and accessible. I wonder how you can take this app even further by incorporating games, videos or even AR/VR opportunities!

Great idea - a simple way of providing the right resources (books on diversity and inclusion) directly to the students that need them. You've also clearly defined the mechanism (users can donate money to send specific books to a specific school) which in this case is beautiful in its simplicity and would be easy to implement. Well done all around.
