About this Project:

EDU FUNDS is a mobile application designed to address the pressing challenge of financing higher education for students. Recognizing the escalating costs of college tuition and the often overwhelming process of finding funds and scholarships, EDU FUNDS provides a streamlined platform for students to easily access and apply for financial aid opportunities.

The project began with extensive research into the struggles students face in financing their education, including the time-consuming task of searching for scholarships and grants. Through brainstorming sessions and user feedback, the idea for EDU FUNDS emerged as a solution to simplify the process and make it more accessible. The design evolved through iterative prototyping and testing, focusing on user experience and interface simplicity.

Once built, EDU FUNDS would function as a comprehensive database of scholarships, grants, and other financial aid options. Students would create profiles detailing their academic background, interests, and demographics, allowing the app to match them with relevant funding opportunities. Notifications would alert users to new opportunities and deadlines, while an intuitive interface would guide them through the application process, ultimately helping students secure the funds they need to pursue their educational goals.

What an awesome solution to a difficult problem! You did an amazing job at explaining the problem and how you're experience with applying to college brought to light what a complicated process applying for scholarships can be. In my work experience, the best solutions come from those who are deep in the problem, so keeping the mindset when you face complicated processes that there should be simpler solutions is going to help so many people who are facing these issues and struggling. The presentation was really easy to follow, and you presented it with a lot of confidence - my only suggestion is that with slides with such few words, you make sure to look out for any spelling errors.

- Strong and clear description of the project goals and topic.
- Topic is important to almost all students and provides a simple way to address
- Video presentation was professional, felt like I was listening to a real product owner pitch their concept - clear ideas, easy to follow storytelling, with personal anecdotes about the cousin’s experience and the feedback of the research.
- UI design had simple, easy to follow selections and icons, presented the school background, scholarship/grant, and employment information clearly.
- The verbal summary of the next steps and the plan to partner/integrate with SCOIR made perfect sense.

The presentation was very dependent on the presenter, ideally would have liked to have seen/discovered more information in the deck about the interviews and personal research process and findings that were referred to in the spoken presentation.

Since everything else was so strong, calling the summary “the closing” in the outline felt potentially demeaning to the target audience, would have liked something more neutral that connected more with how the app meets the needs of the users.

Overall this is a great product concept and app that if built will have immediate real-world benefits to the users.
