About this Project:

Virtual Food Bank (VFB) will be used by people with limited access to good meals and donors who are looking to help in Staten Island. Our app will help people with obtaining food and the health problems that appear from food insecurity. By decreasing hunger in our community we will be helping world numbers decrease. If we do this well, those who are having difficulty will be able to have food, and put their focus on other things important to their families. They will then be able to help other people, and create a cycle of helping and giving.

We interviewed different members of our school community and decided this app help those in need. It would get people good, healthy food, and those looking to help, have a place to donate through. It is a local Staten Island donation, so you are helping your neighbors and people you see every day.

We hope you enjoy our presentation!

An incredibly valuable idea for the NYC region. Great work!

Great idea to get this data onto an app. Take a look at the NYC Fridges page for more references - there's a section on it to upload a photo of each fridge to see the contents: https://nycfridge.com - I don't think they have an App so adding this to an App or creating one around this would be good.

Nice idea and a very good social cause. I am particularly pleased with the effort you all have made to interview people and get public opinion.
You may additionally want to see how you can reach more and more people who need food (poor may not have access to smartphone app to request food) and make this a community campaign.
This is a very good initiative that you should take forward and have some research included on ways of outreach making the message more compelling.
