About this Project:

Our project is called Plastic Preventer. Plastic Preventer addresses the large amount of pollution on Staten Island and across New York City. This project could even expand to the entire United States.

Our original idea was to create an app that would motivate people to join the fight against pollution. As we began to interview people, we found common themes about pollution leading to health issues and Staten Island being considered a polluted place. This lead to us adding opportunities for the user to have a hands-on experience with others in the community.

The app fights pollution by allowing users to connect in various ways including community clean-ups, donations, and rewards. The user is also able to use the app wherever they are in the country. There is also a social media aspect that allows for posting in order to bring awareness to the issue of pollution. The app is designed to keep the user invested over a long period of time. The easy to navigate interface allows people of all backgrounds and ages to engage in these activities.

The idea is great and will foster positive change if implemented effectively. The idea of using an app in the age of digital transformation shows that your team has thought ahead. Good luck!

This is a beautiful project! I love the initiative of removing pollutants to keep our air, water, land and community/society a safe haven for all and also make this rewarding and fun.
Here is what needs to be added to the storyline; on September 15th 2015 the Millennium development goals were superseded by the sustainable development goals and these goals have a timeline to be achieved by 2030. Check out SDGs 12, 13,14,15 and 17 and see the mind-blowing possibilities of plastic preventers.
Plastic preventer is a great deal in helping the SDGs be realised by 2030 and this has to be added to the story. I am rooting for team Plastic Preventer... Way to go team Plastic Preventers

I love this app! We have to keep our planet clean! I think people need to be more responsible when it comes to caring for our environment and planet. Pollution is harming the planet and it just makes our environment look dirty. I think everything presented on your app are great ideas- cleanups. What a wonderful way to promote community service and get people involved in helping to preserve our planet. Great job kids and good luck!
