Emtio con app oricalmi

About this Project:

I came up with the idea when I decided that I wanted explore the world of art. I wanted to do something unconventional so I focus on the wonders of Origami. It is a hard, but enjoyable task that I believed has be broadcasted in a bad light due to its requirement for focus. I made it my mission to change the reputation of Origami. Origami is a great stress reliever,- if you can do it right-, gives you a break from the screen, increase your dexterity and art skills. According to enterforanxietydisorders.com, “increasing screen time was generally linked to progressively lower psychological well-being.” My app will be used to help users increase their artistic skills and make them more handy. This app is important to me because having a skill can go a long way and I am always looking for a challenge. Challenging yourself helps to increase your brain usage and makes you a more well rounded person.

More About this Project

I am a "pro" at creating paper airplanes but I wanted a greater challenge. Therefore, I decided to take up origami. I chose one of the well known artworks, "The Swan", to attempt. There were several occasions when it’s no use to fold without concern in the result. The origami turned out to be ugly no matter which angle I looked. I lost track of the steps and it turned out to be a paper ball. When I researched a easier way, I my self-esteem depleted as I witnessed the masterpieces created by experts. After that experience, I never attempted Origami again until I chose to over come my fear of failing and chose to work on a paper rose. Time and time again I failed but when I completed my artwork, I was overcome with joy and pride. I want to spread the feeling of accomplishment to all of the world and my app, Oricalmi, will do that by creating a community that will be learning origami together.

Origami is an ancient and beautiful art form. It engages the mind, enhances dexterity and teaches precision and focus.

The idea of making Origami easier to learn through a platform that enables sharing, teaching and collaboration is novel. The concept of Origami as a calming and de-stressing tool is unique and innovative.
