About this Project:
We created Junk to Treasure because there is a lot of trash around Staten Island. Sometimes the garbage is in school, but it is also in the park and eventually even the ocean. Our app is a fun way to get rid of the trash and earn money at the same time.
After creating an account the take a picture or video of themselves disposing trash. This will turn into cash prizes!
We hop you enjoy our presentation.

Feedback from the Judges:
I love the concept of this app. I've wanted something like this for a while. I know in some areas and even in other countries, people can earn money vouchers just by recycling. Where will the funding come from so that you can pay users? How can users cash out their earnings? I would definitely be interested in seeing this app develop further and actually take flight- it's an amazing concept that will help the environment so much.
Great concept and well thought out and researched. Love the incentivizing to get people to participate. Team did nice job of storytelling and presenting the app.
Cool idea but most people I know don't want to touch trash. How do you make it easier to pick up trash? Maybe you could also provide gloves or a "picking" device that would help people do this easier without having to bend over, etc....
My favorite part about your idea is that you want people to have fun with something not usually associated with fun and that's how change happens! Other than giving money, what other ways can you make the trash picking up experience more fun? Maybe there are fun elements to the app that users are experiencing, or ways to bring people together? Great start to a very cool concept, and love all the work you put in!
