About this Project:

Gang Violence within our youth is detrimental to our neighborhoods in Brooklyn. This app is about how to be aware of gang violence and some alternatives for the youth. We came up with this idea by focusing on the recent rise of gang violence in Brooklyn, especially within teenagers ages 13-17. As you travel through on Figma, you will see data on gang violence and a few examples of alternatives, such as joining an afterschool program. Afterschool programs are a great way for teenagers to stay out of trouble. This is still a work in progress, thank you.

Great work, Ying, Yong, Xing, Iveen, Jocelyn, and Luisairi! Your app brings awareness to a serious issue that affects young people all over NYC. Educating youth about the stats and rates of violence within their area and providing alternatives is a great way to help keep young people off the streets and out of danger. I would have loved to hear about your design process and ways you would like to further develop your app. Nice job!

I applaud your efforts in providing awareness for a real and serious issue and alternatives for teenagers. Promoting afterschool programs as a positive outlet for teenagers to stay out of trouble is a great suggestion.

One area for improvement would be to expand on the app's features and functionality. Provide more details on how the app will engage and educate users about gang violence, what resources it will provide, and how it will connect teenagers to alternatives and support networks. Adding interactive elements or gamification could make the app more engaging for the target audience.

Overall, your dedication to addressing the issue of gang violence and offering alternatives is fantastic. Your project has the potential to make a significant positive impact on the community. Keep up the excellent work!

Your idea addresses a very real and important need, so it has the potential to make a big impact! After school programs are a great idea, but I encourage you to keep thinking about other resources the could be available and how you could include them in your app. It might be interesting to think about how you could make the app more interactive so people will be inspired to use it again and again to keep learning and stay motivated to keep out of trouble. Maybe find way to include a game or a social aspect where people can motivate each other. Nice work, and keep the ideas coming!

Hi, Team!
What an important (and frighten) topic and great display of empathy towards individuals suffering from this violence...Thanks to highlight the importance of being the leader of your life and the need of understanding how to move from teen to adult removing any violence in our social interactions! Fantastic! 💚😉👏🏼
A heartfelt congratulations to each and every one of you on this fantastic achievement! The task of designing and app from an idea and interacting with a real problem is no small feat. 📲💻👏🏼
You are change-makers, and society is going to thank you for addressing a global social issue using digital tools, apps, and community-building initiatives. By identifying a social problem in our community and designing an app to address it, you are showcasing a model for digital solutions. I encourage you to further develop your app prototype, and move from its design to coding and to test how a real app would function.
MIT provides an excellent resource, the App Inventor ( https://appinventor.mit.edu/), which could be highly beneficial for first-time app developers. I encourage you to explore it and continue growing both as a team and as innovators in digital solutions. You also could include a game in the app for engaging the teens to use the app.
You have used Figma for designing your idea, now, step up and use App Inventor for coding it! 😉👏🏼
Continue empathizing with the potential users of your app for building what they neesd and what they are going to use, this is called customer-centric product definition!
Lastly, I'd like to extend my heartfelt congratulations once again. Be proud of being the creators of 'GYVA (Gang Youth Violence Awareness)'! Thanks! Keep up the excellent work and continue shaping the future. Your creativity and drive are truly inspiring. 😉👏🏼📲

I think this project is based on a growing concern of many people around the world, especially in urban centers, for the way you try to put it into practice in an app, I consider it an innovative idea with a huge social impact. As you said, it is a continuous work and it must be updated as the insolent gang movements and not only update their methods as well. It's an educational idea, and I think they put a lot of time and effort into this idea. I would consider continuing to develop the app's features as well as the aesthetic side. Please keep up the good effort as the social impact of your work will be noticed. I liked your Pitch and all your intention with your work.

This project provides awareness to a serious issue in our community. I enjoy the layout of the design. Next time, I wonder if you can add different types of resources to your app in case teenagers want more of an option besides after-school programs. Amazing work.
