“Animal Alerts”

About this Project:

This project is our idea for an app that focuses on helping animals in need, and we decided to do this since we feel like there are many animals around the world who are in danger and in need of a safe place to live. From this, we decided to come up with an app as a simple solution. Our app would include features such as reporting stray animals, reporting animals/pets who have went missing, and reporting animals who are being abused or being suspected of abuse. We combined these three features into one app in order to let it be known immediately when an animal is in danger and needs help. Our plan is that when an animal gets reported, they will be sent to the nearest shelter as soon as possible, in order to change their lives for the better. When stray animals get sent to the shelter, people could adopt them so they will be sent into a safe home with a loving family. When a missing animal is sent to the shelter, the owner will be notified as soon as possible and they will be able to pick their pet up. When an animal that is being abused is sent to the shelter, they will now be safe and away from their abuse. Overall, we hope our app project will help as many animals as possible.

I love that you chose to build a product around a topic youre passionate about. I particularly was impressed that you investigated the competition to determine how to differentiate yourself this is super important!

While you write a very thorough description of the product and created very clear Figma screens, I wish I could have seen you pitch your product to understand it as you intended. Pitches inject life you cant get from the written word :)

Overall, kudos for considering how to combine your personal interests with social impact to make the world a better place. Thats what brought me into the world of health tech that personal interest keeps me excited about my work every day! I encourage you to not lose that spark!

I think this application addresses a very real problem in the world--animal suffering-- and gives people who are concerned about that problem a really nice tool to help address it. I like that you identified different issues--strays, abuse, and missing animals--and integrated them. I think the ability to have users peruse missing animals when they find an animal, for example, is synergistic. I also like the use of location to help pinpoint where the animal is. It would be great if the application helped you to classify the animal in ways that would help people find their pet--size, key features, identifying marks. It would also be great if it gave advice on whether and how to approach different kinds of animals. I appreciate that your team did background research to find other applications that provide similar services, but considered how you could improve on those applications by providing more functions in one application.

I really like this concept because there is a lot of animal cruelty in the world and I believe it can help reduce that.
