About this Project:

Designing an app to promote movement in classrooms and prevent teen obesity is a noble and important goal that we tried to reach. As middle schoolers, we had to face some challenges and issues during the design process. Here are a few challenges we had to encounter and how we were able to address them:

Understanding the problem: While we may have personal experiences and observations regarding the lack of movement in classrooms, we believe it is important to gather more comprehensive data. We conducted thorough research by collecting information from a variety of sources, such as surveys, interviews, and studies on the impact of physical activity on learning and health. This helped us gain a better understanding of the problem and design to find a more effective solution.

Collaboration and expertise: Developing an app requires a range of skills, including design, coding, and project management. As 14-year-olds, we did not have the expertise in all these areas. We decided to collaborate with classmates, teachers who brought different skills to the table. We formed a team and sought guidance from mentors who have experience in app development and physical education. To create an app that resonated with our targeted audience, we involved our peers and other individuals in the design process. We did this by conducting surveys, interviews, and focus groups with teachers, students, and parents to understand their needs and preferences.. We got feedback on our ideas and prototypes, and the app evolved based on the input we received. By involving the end-users throughout the process, we created a more relevant and engaging app.

I am impressed by the thoroughness of your concept, including detailed slides, a narrated video, and UX mockups. Your focus on tackling the critical issue of obesity and promoting better health practices among children is truly commendable. The level of detail in your app mockups shows great commitment to your idea.

One area where your mockups could potentially be improved is by reducing the amount of text on some screens. Breaking up the text with more interactive content, such as images, videos, and graphics, could make your app more engaging and user-friendly.

I love your idea of including a contest within the app to gamify the experience and increase user engagement. It's a thoughtful way of keeping users motivated and involved.

As you continue to refine your concept, consider providing more details on your market research. You mention that you've conducted extensive research through various methods, but providing specific data points in your submission would strengthen your pitch.

Also, consider expanding on your user research, competitive analysis, and user feedback. The health and wellness app market is competitive, so understanding your position within it will be crucial. Looking forward to your next steps.

Bravo ladies. You did the research and found a fun way to incorporate movement in young peoples lives while in school. Wow I didn't realize obesity had risen 17% since Covid-19. I love the look and the design. Competition is something that can drive students and you did that with the leaderboard. Wish I had money to invest and see this become an app. Great job.
