About this Project:

The inspiration to create Stress Less came from our own experiences of being teenagers as well as from the interviews we conducted. While brainstorming ideas, we considered the importance of the mental health of our users and how being a teenager stresses them out. We decided to interview guidance counselors Ms. Naula and Mr. Rothenberg in order to gain a better understanding of the things different teenagers go through every day. Our research demonstrated the need for teenagers to find better advice that isn’t negative.

Our major goal is to help teenagers cope with their problems and help them have a better teenage experience. Stress Less contains extra support for teenagers with lots of different issues that they are dealing with. Our app distinguishes itself by being an educational way to deal with trauma or issues.

Amazing job on the project! I really appreciated the skit you included in the beginning, and the slides did a great job at explaining your app, its features, and your thought process. You included some great ideas and features. It was apparent that you really took your time in thinking what students your age can benefit from. Stress can prevent kids from realizing their full potential, so an app like this that can help soothe and prevent stress is immensely useful. Keep up the great work!!!

Brianna, Damla, Davianna, and Karen -- amazing presentation! I am so incredibly impressed with this project for many reasons:

- Fantastic storytelling -- your skit at the beginning of the presentation really brings the user into app experience and provides a solid foundation for why the app is helpful.

- Clear direction -- your explanations on how and why to use the app are direct, to the point, and effective. I felt like I could start using it right now!

- Ease of use -- when you're stressed, it can be difficult to figure out how to help yourself. One of the things I love about this app design is the variety of help options a person can receive. Simultaneously, what each option provides is really straightforward, so there's not a lot of guesswork for the user.

Congratulations on a truly fantastic project!

We all deal with stress in different ways and the fact that you offered multiple avenues for how one can get assistance really shows you put a lot of thought into how you can help your peers. The worst about dealing with stress and anxieties is thinking you are alone in this situation. Having ways to connect with others, receive and send messages, and find resources for help you may not have considered I think would benefit a lot of teens. It can give them an outlet without putting pressure to talk to parents/adults if that's not something they want. It's a fantastic concept and a great presentation. Keep up the awesome work! (^_^ )b

This is fantastic work on a very important issue that affects many people! I really liked how you started the presentation with a skit to contextualize your work in a larger, systemic issue. It established a value proposition and market need immediately so that I felt bought into the product before even seeing it. This is very challenging to do - great work!

I also loved how many options you offered and the unique ways of approaching the different challenges students face. This is a very thoughtful and thorough approach.

I think this very resourceful for young people that have no other outlets to talk about things that they are struggling with!

What made you come up with this concept? Was it due to a pandemic, when times were rough for kids, especially middle and high school students? Or did it have to do with the stress of peer pressure and social media influence, that puts teens into these types of mental situations.
