“NYC School Restroom”

About this Project:

Our app was made for bathroom access during classroom instruction—making it faster for ALL students to enter without a line—eliminating pass conflict and giving control to everybody who needs to use the facilities throughout the day. The design process involved speaking to teachers and their needs when giving out bathroom (counselor) passes to students in addition to speaking to students who always feel they are not given enough attention (time) when they need to go to the bathroom or see a counselor.

The project (app), if it could be built, would be a phone app—for staff and students—which would allow them to see who is at a particular bathroom/office in order to better plan a pass request so that they can efficiently and effectively manage their time. Lastly, the app. could, in case of emergency/lockdowns, allow pedagogues to know the location of students out of the room(s) to ensure their safety.

Wow, this is a great idea. I see it being used as an access tool and a means of knowing where students are during class time. The only concern I would have is the security aspect. Security would have to be built into the coding to prevent tampering and manipulation of data.

Great idea. The life of a student this app could fit and add a sense of convenience and organization to both the students and administrations school day. The potential for the loss of privacy or misuse causes me pause but from someone who could have used this app during my school years I would have loved something like this. The work put in this project is commendable and a great concept project.

This Idea is not only amazing but unique as well! I could totally see this being used Nation wide in the future! There is one important change that I think should be made. For privacy and safety reasons maybe make a teacher mode where the teachers can view what students are where? That way normal students can only see the amount of students that are in one of these places and not who the person in there is. Even with the student code number I'm sure friends will talk and tell eachother their code numbers. Other than that I love this project! great work!
