“Malligator”

About this Project:
Our design process in our app was first a navigation app but then we realized that was already made, so then we decided to change it to a navigator app that helps people know what to do at a place while traveling or ideas where to go for traveling. For example if you have a family of 5 but need a travel idea you might get the suggestion of going to Disney and go on the roller coasters if you like roller coasters, and our app name “Malligator” was made from our icon/mascot the alligator and apart of our app idea (navigation)then that gave us alligator we then decided it reminded us of a mall map then combined the two together and got “Malligator.”
And our idea has evolved since at first we just had a mall that leads you places in the mall and now we have “Malligator” which is a navigator app that helps people know what to do at a place while traveling or ideas where to go for traveling and what they can do in there area based on what they plan on doing.
If we were to build our app it would be a navigator app that helps people know what to do at a place while traveling or ideas where to go for traveling like I said in the beginning, and if you want a quiet place to be in but don’t have a account you can still use the app and we will give you some suggestions but it just won’t save your data since you’re not logged in and you can also take a picture of where you are and what you’re in the mood to do if you’re new to the place you’re in. So if I’m new here to New York and I want to go to a beach you would move the camera around a little bit say you want to go to the closet beach and we might give you a beach in Far Rockaway and how far it is and how you can get there depending on what transportation you select, we will also tell you when and what day the beach is open and closed .

I love the concept of the Malligator recommending places to visit based off of your history, it gives a very personalized experience. The Malligator being experience based is what sets it apart from most apps and can be used for solo and group experiences which is a plus!
Feedback: You all have wonderful ideas incorporated into the app however I think it will be the most beneficial to focus on one feature first and then slowly roll out the badges and other features -- just so the user experience isn't overwhelming.

This is a great app idea that can help travelers navigate new places and find attractions or things to do. I am always looking for something to do even as a native New Yorker! I loved the app logo which is relative to your school mascot. It was a great idea to change the direction of your app idea once you did a competitive analysis of other similar apps. That was a good way to make your app stand out against other navigating apps.
Some things to think about if your team wants to continue developing this app idea would be to narrow down some of the features. There are some really great features like suggestions based on the users' history, giving new users a free trial, and space for users to give you feedback about the app. Other features like the point system can be developed a bit more- maybe think of allowing the users to gain points towards discounts.

I loved the idea of tailing recommendations to user's interests, as well as making it fun by allowing users to add accessories to their avatar, making it "theirs". Very fun and playful! I also really liked the badges page and gamifying tasks that users can do. This is crucial towards building engagement with an app that has any kind of community aspect.
