Korella

About this Project:

The purpose of Korella is to help inspire people to pick trash up instead of dropping, or leaving it on the sidewalk. We came up with this because we found out that this is a big problem that has impacted the world. We needed to find a solution to help the world get better and help people understand that littering affects many living things and not just humans.

Our inspiration for Korella is animal extinction; Korella’s creators are animal lovers, so we went in depth in this problem and discovered littering was the main cause. We decided to create an app that not only helps us human beings but also animals and nature.

Things that you can get from our app is points from picking trash and recording yourself on the live feed for proof. You can buy merch with our logo, design you avatar and play games. We have articles that you can read about pollution and littering. Our app is not only to inspire you but everyone around the world.

Korella is dedicated to help in the fight of litter reduction. Pick up litter to gain points and climb the leaderboard. Read articles, play games, buy merch and most of all, save the Earth!

I really love the idea of this project! This app seems like a great way to learn, play games, and also be part of a community! I thought you all did an amazing job with the mock ups of the app - not only does it look super creative, but it also seems really fun to use. I'm very excited to see the next steps of this project, great job!

Aneesa, Avi, Shondhita, Nigar, Kathy, Rouguiatou, and Radhika did a splendid job of taking something that they’re passionate about (animals) and identifying a way to help them. I think that it can be tough to motivate people to do things for the environment because it’s such a huge issue that it’s hard to know how the individual can make a difference, and that can be demotivating. I think that having people record themselves picking up trash and gamifying the experience is a good way to keep people motivated. I also think that this can help fellow environmentalists stay passionate about the act of removing pollution through the competitive aspect. The app is well-designed and intuitive and offers a host of helpful and innovative features that would attract people already passionate about animals AND ideas on how to save them.

Even though this is a great place to start, I think the exciting part is that there’s also room to grow this concept. What if as you gain points, you could see how many animals you saved? Maybe you could show “You just saved Dory the Dolphin!” And that could be another thing that could be represented on your scoreboard. Additionally, maybe you could award users even more points if they get friends to join, to increase the pool of motivated environmentalists, and saving even more animals! These are just ideas that you can take or leave (it’s your app!), but it’s just to demonstrate that there’s room to grow this already great idea. :-)

Great job on this creative and altruistic idea! I’m looking forward to see where it goes next.

Korella is a well thought out and creative solution. Using the 'life-as-a-game' approach (points, rewards, leaderboards and such) to tackle litter is very innovative. I love it!

The app mockup is beautifully done and you have carefully thought out and documented how it would work.

The art work, writings, and design bring us into your world and make us want to pitch in!

Great app design! I love the idea of "gamifying" pollution reduction by rewarding users for picking up trash. I also love that users can redeem points for their avatar, to play games, and learn more about pollution. Overall great job of combining an interactive game with education and societal impact. Wonderful job!

I like the theme of the apps. The colors are really nice. i like the points system but what you do not get the points should be easier. Because I don’t think people would just want to record themselves throwing away trash just for the points.
