“Immi-unite”
About this Project:
My project is a social media app that allows people who are new to a country to communicate with one another and discuss their adaptation and adjustment experiences. It's an app for socializing and not feeling alone, in addition to exchanging experiences and tips. It's a community, not simply an app.
This app is intended to be a social platform for friends and families, but it can also be used as a learning space. This app is similar to popular social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and others.

More About this Project
After interviewing several former immigrants and newcomers to the country, I discovered through their stories that most people migrating to a new country struggle with settling in and often feel isolated. Some are first-generation travelers, which means that no one in their family has ever traveled outside of their home country. Some people struggle to make new friends because they don't believe they have anything in common with anyone.
I also discovered that international students are afraid of not being able to complete their education because of their immigration status, despite the fact that there are options to complete their education and obtain a well-paying job regardless of their immigration status. Most people lack this expertise because they were never welcomed or guided, or because such assistance arrived too late.

Feedback from the Judges:
As a first-generation American, this speaks to me on so many levels. I think this is a much-needed app in our community. It truly does hone in the sense of community despite being far away from home and sometimes, alone in a new country. I really like how you were able to include resources and a community social page. I would like to see in the next version of your app, a "Need any help" button and translate the app into their native language.
Incredible job, and keep it up!
