About this Project:

The app GPS Bus is designed so that users such as parents and school children can be sure when the bus will arrive and when there is a delay so the child doesn't miss the bus.

It is an app we hope can help resolve lateness and absences in schools caused by bus delays. Our app, like Uber or Lyft, gives parents or children information on when their bus is going to come. The app can partner with schools and be recommended for parents and children to use so that they can know when their child needs to leave their home.

When the user opens the app, they are going to be able to choose to Sign In or Register. Then the user is going to be able to choose two options: 1- GPS Bus or 2- Map. The GPS Bus option will show the school bus on the map heading to your house and provide you with information like how many passengers are on the bus. The Map option shows you a map of your area and the time of arrival.

Parents would care about this project as it can save their children's education. Without GPS bus, you will not be able to know when the bus will come and risk being late to school which leads to you missing class instruction. We are proud of this app because it can also save so much time for parents and help parents clock in at work on time by having a planned schedule of knowing what time the bus will come. We are both happy to say we have designed a unique app that will be beneficial to members of our community and other communities as well.

More About this Project

We hope our app can solve lateness and absences in schools, as we know it is a big problem in our community. We would love to add even more features to our app and make it the best it could be. If we have even more money we could upgrade the HUD or UI and upgrade the technology in our app.

I want to congratulate you both on coming up with a wonderful idea that is solving a big problem in your community - and many other communities I'm sure. I can definitely see many parents finding this extremely useful. The two biggest benefits that I see this app delivers are peace of mind and convenience. I would use these two core principles to approach the experience design.

From a convenience level, what would happen if the app just loads one map instead of giving families to have to choose between the two choices that show a different feature of the same map. I can see potential in combining some of these features into a more robust user interface within a single map environment.

From a peace of mind level, would you consider showing the school bus' travel status beyond just picking up the kids - so that parents can see and/or be notified when the kids have arrived at school on time, late, etc?

I think that could be extremely powerful and has a lot of potentials to develop. Keep it up!!!

So many students have a really difficult time with the same issue. I enjoyed reading through your design process, and it's clear that a lot of thought was put into this app idea. If you want to do more work like this in the future, learning user experience design will help you to understand more about using a human-centric approach in every endeavor. Well done!

This is a very thoughtful solution for parents who worry about having to send their kids to school on a bus. Your app has features to relieve anxiety by providing real time information in multiple formats. A couple of years ago OPT worked on something like this - https://ridewithvia.com/news/via-selected-to-power-new-york-citys-school-bus-system/. Not sure where they are in development. Maybe you can help them!

This is a great idea that would be immensely valuable to many users! I like how straightforward and user-friendly the app is and that it has both text and visual functionalities. You also do a great job of connecting the value of this app to something larger than the day-to-day use: how it benefits people's educations.

There are many great ways to use this app, especially since you are engaging students, parents, and educators! I encourage you to think about more ways this app can be used.

This app could be of great use to people who have issue with traveling, this app could combat this problem, and make it overall easier for students whom take the bus or have to go to school or back home. Great app design, I hope to see more in the future. :)

This is a good project because it helps family know when the bus make it to where they live and so they don't be late to school.

This app can help a lot when comes to people getting lost in the rode and that can help a lot when you are bus driver also for new people that drive the bus if you don't know where to go.
