About this Project:

This project is a recycling project that allows users to recycle with rewards. It will target the lack of recycling issue along the entire world. We first came up with this idea for a in-school Hackathon project that we eventually won. It was originally just a project made with google slides and Code.org, but now, we have used Figma to improve the visualization of this project.

The project is a garbage can that have a scanner and will give you money back for each pound of recyclable trash you put in. There will be a built-in QR code scanner that can scan your QR code on your EcoNome app. Then the system will recognize you as the one who recycled and will reward you with the money.

A super-original implementation! I really liked the idea of pairing another new technology with your app. An engineered 'smart' container that can track your input for the app to log... I think people would be instantly interested in hearing more. I also thought it was a great choice to add a rewards system for doing your part. Along with your really thoughtful design, 'game-ifying' the experience will definitely keep users engaged. It would be great to hear more of a introduction to the presentation around the problem that your app will help to solve (maybe something like some statistics about the impact of waste - and leading into the potential to reduce waste through using your app). What an interesting and unique concept.... great job!

I absolutely LOVE this idea. It is at the cornerstone of impact, innovation, realistic implementation, and positive user experience. Garbage cans are EVERYWHERE and this project takes advantage of their common (and world-wide) frequency in order to make large-scale impact. The well thought out app will make it extremely user friendly and allow for accessibility across all age ranges, backgrounds, and technological literacy levels. The app will allow positive change to come from the act of recycling (which is something people are already doing) AND encourage them to keep doing it (or start doing it if they are not already!) WITH the aspect of positive reinforcement. This is something that I can see being implemented on a wide and far reaching scale!!

Amazing idea! The presentation was well put together and seeing that garbage cans are readily available in most places it is a great incentive to get people to recycle more. Flipping recycling on its head and gamifying it will draw more attention and looking into its future development there could be tiers added as a rank system to distinguish those who are very active (Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond). Collaborations with both for profit and non-profit organizations should be something that you look into. This idea is world changing!
