About this Project:

Our app, Blue Cards Online, helps everyone can stay organized and reduces pollution.

Through our interviews, we found that out school has difficulty communicating. Papers were sometimes handed out and lost on the way home from school. One student said, "I lost my permission slip for Field Day three times." Another student said, "I keep leaving my Aquarium permission slip in school." Parents would not see important forms like blue cards, permissions slips and report cards. One parent said, "My older child never brings home papers." Teachers also lose papers sometimes. One teacher said, "I know a student brought the permission slip in, but I'm in so many rooms and I misplaced it. So now he has to get another one. Hopefully he will remember to bring it back." Setting up a digital platform would eliminate these problems.

Having a digital platform also helps reduce the amount of paper used and thrown out. We found out our school copies more than 50,000 pages every year. Blue Cards Online! would get rid of that. The school would use less paper and ink. This would save the school money and save trees too!

When you click on the app, you can sign up and create your account or log into your account to access your digital papers. You can read the paperwork that would normally be handed out in school.
You then can fill out those papers and return them digitally. The teacher would get them automatically. Finally, parents can see their child’s report card as soon as it’s handed out in class.

Our app can help you keep track of all your papers. No more "the dog ate my homework." In our app, all you do is click and BOOM! There’s your stuff. 😁

Great work! I can see the utility and the benefit of such an application. This project if expanded would give parents the ability to sign off on trips when emailed a copy of the permission slip, not only that I can see this being used as a vital communication link between the parents and the teachers.

I think this app would be so helpful to everyone, it would save time and hassle. If you move forward with the project you could think about how you would protect permission slips from being signed by the students! You may also wish to expand the document library that the app holds to include student assignments so that if someone lost that on the way home, they could print it an complete from a home computer!

I really loved this idea. Communication is so key to success and you've identified a big opportunity and skill not taught in school. It would have been interesting to see your inspiration if you looked for similar apps and how they approached communication. When I have kids, I hope they have this app!

As a parent, I want this app at my daughter's school yesterday! The amount of trees, headaches, and time this would save is invaluable. A great example of how a simple idea can have a global impact.
I would consider adding text and email options for notification to teachers/parents to make sure that no communication is missed but overall a great concept.
I look forward to when I can get Blue Card from the Google Playstore.

I really like the idea of this project/application, the idea of having important notes/cards in your phone to look through whenever you need sounds really useful and beneficial, so you don't have to keep track of papers or what you need to get that comes from your school. What I would recommend is depending on the amount of digital papers being sent out, if you could sort out specific ones like; blue cards or permission slips, into a folder so it's more manageable, I think that would be a great feature.

As a parent, I want this app in my kid's school yesterday! The amount of trees, time and headaches this app could save is invaluable. It's a great demonstration of how a simple idea can have profound impacts on a global scale.
I would improve this by expanding sending notifications to parents/teachers by text or email but overall really great idea.
I look forward to a time when I can see Blue Card in the Google Play store!
